Atatürk's Remarks
ATATÜRK’S REMARKS
The meeting of that night started in a different atmosphere. Other than
usual, Atatürk was listening to the music carefully and without saying a word.
At the end of the program:
- Now I understand. Usually we may not find the real esteem of music. The
music we have listened to is real Turkish music. There is no doubt that this is
the music of a high civilisation. The world has to be understand this music. But
we must be at the level of today’s civilised world in order to make it
understood by the world.
My friends and the other guests heard these words of Atatürk (Mr. Mesut had
written this memory later on in his memoirs. I remember he told about it in a
conversation we held.)
