Halil Dikmen

Halil Dikmen (1906 – 1964)

Born in Istanbul in 1906, Dikmen graduated from the Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi in 1927 and went to the Paris in 1928. He studied painting in Paris for three years. After he returned to Türkiye he worked as a painting teacher at the Kayseri and Galatasaray high schools. He was appointed director of the Painting and Sculpture Museum in 1937.

The artist was a member of the “D Group,” was the general director of the Fine Arts Academy and died in 1964.

His works may be seen in state and private painting and sculpture collections.
