Kuzgun Acar
Kuzgun Acar (1928 – 1976)
Born in Istanbul in 1928, he continued his education at the Fine Arts Academy Department of Sculpture after graduating from Istanbul’s Sultanahmet Commercial High School. He graduated from the academy as a student of Professor Belling in 1933. Under the influence of Hadi Bara, Acar tended towards abstract, figureless studies when he was a student. He made semi-transparent compositions by using cages and string in a manner reminiscent of Gabo. He then developed new methods by the use of strings and nails.
The artist went to Paris in 1961 and worked there for a year, exhibiting those works in 1962 at an exhibition at the Musee d’Arts. After he returned to Türkiye, he produced valuable works with the same perceptiveness.
He passed away on February 4, 1976
