HATEMİ, Husrev
Poet (b. 12 December 1938, Feriköy / Beyoğlu / İstanbul). His full name is Hasan Hüsrev Hatemi. He is the brother of the poet and writer Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Hatemi. He belongs to a family that emigrated from South Azerbaijan. His father, Ali Asgar Hatemi, was born in Dilman City in Azerbaijan and came to Türkiye with his family in 1920. He attended Talat Paşa Primary School (1958) and graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Medicine (1962). He entered the same university as an assistant of internal diseases (1966). He became an associate professor in 1971 and professor in 1978. He continued as a member of the same faculty.
His first poem titled İkbal Gazeli (Prosperity Lyric Poem) was published in the review İslâm in 1962. His other poems and essays were published in the reviews and newspapers, Fikir ve Sanatta Hareket (1966-79), Türk Edebiyatı (1985-89), Cumhuriyet, Milliyet, Zaman, Mavera, Tarih ve Toplum (1984-88) Tercüman (1989). He edited the annual publication, Tıp Tarihi Araştırmaları (Research on the History of Medicine), with Prof. Dr. Nil Sarı. He won the first prize of the poetry contest held by the review İslâm in 1963 with his only poem, İkbal Gazeli; the Writers Union of Türkiye Essay and Research Award in 1988 with his book Yozlaşmadan Uzlaşmak (Negotiating without Degenerating). He was selected as the Poet of the Year in 1994. He is a member of Turkish Medical Association and the Turkish Historical Society.
