Spinach with Ground Meat

Spinach
with Ground Meat (Kıymalı Ispanak)

Spinach | - | 1 kg |
Onions | 2 medium size | 120 grams |
Ground meat | 1 cup | 175 grams |
Margarine | 3 tablespoons | 30 grams |
Rice | ¼ cup | 45 grams |
Tomato paste | 1 tablespoon | 10 grams |
Salt 1 | ½ teaspoon | 9 grams |
Water (hot) | 1 cup | 200 grams |
Preparation
Weed out the spinach
and wash. Wash the onions and chop finely. Place the onions, ground meat and
margarin in a saucepan, cover and simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally
for about 8-10 minutes until all the juice is reduced. Wash the rice and add
to the saucepan together with the tomato paste, salt and water, stir. Chop the
spinach 1 centimetre thick and add to the boiling mixture, stir once when the
leaves are slightly tender, and cook for 10-15 minutes until the rice has become
elongated and tender.

Notes
It is among the
winter and spring dishes. Served with yogurt as the main dish for lunch or dinner.
It can also be prepared with purslane or beet leaves. In some regions the rice
is replaced with bulgur and sometimes chickpeas are added.
