GREEN BEANS (Taze Fasulye)

1 1b. Fresh green beans
2 medium onions, chopped
3 medium tomatoes, peeled and seeded
1 tsp. salt
2 tsps. granulated sugar
1/3 cup olive oil or corn oil
1 cup water

Cut beans in half. Chop tomatoes into small pieces. Add all the other ingredients, including the water and simmer for as long as is needed for the beans to become tender, adding water if necessary. Turkish vegetables are supposed to be well cooked. Serve at room temperature.

Serves 3 to 4.
